Four Tops heirs bring lawsuit against surviving member
There’s trouble in Motown, as the heirs of Four Tops founding member file a lawsuit against the groups only surviving, original member.
Tobi Walker and Eboni Benson, the daughters of Four Tops founder Renaldo “Obie” Benson, have filed a lawsuit against Adbul “Duke” Fakir for money the women say they are owed. According to the Detroit News, Walker and Benson allege that Fakir failed to collect revenues that were owed to the company, which the two of them founded with Fakir in 2005.
In addition to the $25,000 that the women are requesting, they are also asking for the dissolution of The Four Tops LLC and the removal of Fakir as the business agent. The claim’s exact wording says that Fakir “failed to collect all revenue owed to the company” which caused the business to “lost revenue and profits.”
Obie Benson died in 2005. Other founding members Levi Stubbs and Lawrence Payton died in 2008 and 1997, respectively.
New members have since been added to the band, which continues to tour to this day. Check back soon for more news on Four Tops tickets, tours and more.
